Here is a sneak-peek at some of the upcoming trends that our 2019 Michaud's brides are loving!
We are seeing more and more of our couples choosing shades of one color versus choosing from a palette or complimenting colors. Think tones of royal purple, lavender, and wisteria or emerald with sea green. On top of décor, this trend has been extending into not only bridesmaid's attire but also the groomsmen. Colors, on the whole, will trend more towards the deeper jewel tones instead of the sweet and rustic pastel themes of the past few years.
More and more, couples are wishing to transform a space into their own. In the past, this was usually done through custom backdrops, GOBO lights, and up-lights. Now, light and video mapping has been catching on as a way to not only personalize or transform a space but to also incorporate the couple's theme for the day.
Compact, structured bouquets are giving way to lush, romantic arrangements. We expect to see a lot of dahlias, peonies, and ranunculus this upcoming year to compliment the eucalyptus and succulents that have been gaining steadily in popularity. Guest tables will be displaying more and more centerpieces with low florals that rely heavily on greenery such as ivy and boxwood. Structural floral displays will also feature in both ceremonies and reception venues.
Metallics will still be popular, but instead of the golds, and rose golds we are used to seeing, couples will be incorporating more silver, platinum, and chrome. The satin finishes that have been in demand will also give way to sparkle and glitter.
While the tradition diamond will always be forever, many brides want something more personalized when it comes to The Ring. From sapphire and morganite to birthstones and matching wedding colors, couples are thinking outside the box. The halo settings that have been so popular are on the way out in favor of split shank, crisscross or open bands. Oval stones are gaining more popularity, as are clustered settings.
Like the chevron patterns that were everywhere a few years ago, polka dots will be appearing on everything from dresses to wedding cakes. A fun mix and match of different-sized dots can bring a little whimsy into an otherwise traditional set-up.
Themes overall will be elegant and minimalist with a few show-stopping elements like a statement wedding cake or velvet table overlays. Personalization will be the key element to both the ceremony and reception with a few nods to tradition still making an appearance. Couples are also starting to incorporate "bridesmen" and "groomsmaids" versus the traditional wedding party members. Others are opting completely out of having a wedding party and instead choosing to let their nearest and dearest enjoy the day with them without having a specific job to do. Whatever you and your partner's vision for your special day, remember to enjoy the process and that the day is all about your love for one another. Trends will come and go, but you are making your relationship forever.
